Climate change scandal

For those of us who have had doubts about the so-called scientific consensus supporting global climate change, our skepticism may prove to be well-founded and now well-documented.

 

On November 17^th a file containing 1,079 emails and approximately 3,500 other files from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia in England was posted on the Internet. These emails and files, which were obtained and posted either by a hacker or a whistleblower inside the CRU, expose what appears to be serious scientific fraud and the attempted cover up of the manipulation of critical global temperature data which serves as the primary basis for the push for an international policy on climate change.

 

For years there has been growing skepticism among highly reputable scientists and experts in statistics about the validity of the climate change science, particularly the computer models on which so many of the global climate change policies depend. There is little question that global climate change occurs; the real question is whether or not climate change is caused by human activity (anthropogenic) or is part of a natural cycle which human activity can do little to significantly influence.

 

Based on information contained in the emails from the CRU, some leading scientists sounding the alarm over anthropogenic global warming were publishing inaccurate data while at the same time, actively working to manipulate or suppress data which disputed their belief in human-caused climate change. More specifically, they suppressed evidence of historical warming and cooling cycles and of the declining temperatures over the last decade. In addition, they worked together to oppose publication of studies which contradicted their findings that human activity is influencing changes in global temperature, even going so far as strategizing how to have editors of scientific journals removed for allowing the publication of such studies.

 

These emails also reveal violations of the British Freedom of Information laws. The CRU scientists conspired to withhold or delete raw data on which their own studies have been based. In fact, they admitted that they threw away much of the raw data. The discarding of the original data should be a scandal even among climate change believers because a substantial amount of data that forms the basis of what is known about the world’s climate is no longer available for review.

 

This is not the first evidence that the science behind the push for an international climate change treaty is at best unsettled or at worst corrupted. But nothing clearly exposing the data manipulation, suppression of scientific dissent, deliberate destruction of data and collaborative efforts to violate Freedom of Information laws had been revealed prior to disclosure of these emails.  As Australian geologist Ian Plimer put it, “… data was massaged, numbers were fudged, diagrams were biased, there was destruction of data after freedom of information requests, and there was refusal to submit taxpayer-funded data for independent examination.”

 

In addition to the aforementioned issues, other emails indicate that the CRU’s work is further undermined because it is based on faulty computer codes that can no longer be replicated and the data sets on which their models are based have been so manipulated with fudged data that they cannot be considered reliable.

 

What makes this disclosure so important is that CRU reports predicting catastrophic consequences due to anthropogenic global warming are a major basis of the United Nations climate change report and a major justification for the Copenhagen climate summit that will convene on December 7^th.

 

The goal of the summit is get participating nations to agree to major reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions which can only be achieved by major reductions in energy usage. Enacting these policies will result in significant economic losses for the United States and other industrialized nations. Now that the CRU data has been questioned, a substantial part of the scientific basis for the belief that the world faces grave dangers from human-induced global climate change now appears to be based on rigged data.

 

Professor Plimer said that all the data in question must now be rejected. He bluntly called this the behavior of criminals saying, “These crooks perpetrated these crimes at the expense of the British and U.S. taxpayers.” He added that these same “crooks” will be meeting in Copenhagen to push through an agreement based on fraudulent science which will do further harm to the world’s economy.

 

In Professor Plimer’s view, we should be very angry. If not angry, at least even more skeptical.

Cash for clunkers is a shining example of government health care

Great article on the “success” of the cash for clunkers program: tinyurl.com/ks8ksd.

My favorite quote in the piece is “I might have waited until the truck died,” Dennis Strom said of his 14-year-old Dodge Dakota. “It’s a good vehicle that suits our needs. But it’s not worth $3,500.”

So we are paying people to trade in a perfectly suitable vehicle that is probably paid for so we can destroy that vehicle and get them in a new loan for a new vehicle that they probably can’t afford all under the guise of saving the planet by getting 3 more miles per gallon from the new automobile.  And this is who we should trust to run the entire country’s health care? 

Let’s follow the trail of this idiotic program.  First you trade in some vehicle that is perfectly suitable a needy family.  The dealership will then destroy the engine in that vehicle by emptying the oil and pouring in a silicone mixture to permanently disable the engine.  The destroyed hulk of steel and plastic will be shipped via truck to Pueblo, Colorado (I’m sure in a carbon emission free truck) to be shredded into small pieces (by a carbon emission free shredder).  Those pieces will then be shipped via truck to the coast (by the same emission free truck, I suppose) where the pieces will be loaded on to a giant freighter (that emits no carbon emissions) to be shipped to China where the pieces will be melted down (again, no emissions here) to be used to make products that will be sold back to the US (both the construction of those products and the shipping of those products must certainly be emission free).  All of this to save as little as 3 miles per gallon in the name of saving the environment and stimulating the economy.  Who is paying for the trucks to ship the disabled cars and the shredded pieces?  Who is paying for the ships to haul the scrap to China?  Where are those contracts in the deal and how much is that costing us?  What about the looming auto bubble when these people can’t afford their new car payments?  What about the artificial inflation of the used car market by pulling low cost used cars out of it?  What about the effect on the after market parts companies and the used car dealers?  What about the 1 billion dollars that the government (i.e. me and you) spent so far to put all of this in motion?

In looking at the poor way the program was run, do we really think health care would go any better?  The quote in the article, “At Walser Toyota in Bloomington, customers began lining up on Monday before doors opened at 7:30 a.m.. Swenson said. By that afternoon, his dealership had done 150 trade-ins under the program. His salesmen worked overnight to scan and submit forms.  But of the 150, he said, only 30 received responses and all of those were rejections.”  The whole process is a complete mess and a sham.  The inept congress voted Friday to expand the program by putting 200% more funds into it; God help us.

* Tony West, Obama’s nominee for assistant Attorney General, Civil Division, served as defense attorney for “American Taliban” terrorist John Walker Lindh. This was never even mentioned in West’s Senate confirmation hearings.

* Van Jones, chosen as Special Adviser For Green Jobs by Obama, describes himself as a “rowdy black nationalist” and admits becoming a “communist” and “revolutionary” and organized with black radicals, anarchists and communists.

* Martin Feldstein, appointed to Obama’s tax-reform task force and a member of Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board had been an AIG Board member for 21 years.

* Obama offends Armenian-Americans and breaks his campaign promise that “America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian Genocide”, instead refusing to even use the word “genocide” when he visited Turkey after being elected.

* Obama affectionately refers to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as “my man” saying “love this guy”… after da Silva blames the world’s economic problems on “white, blue-eyed” bankers.

* Obama glibly dismisses the trillions in wealth of American families being lost by wide market volatility by coldly stating he’s not concerned with “the day-to-day gyrations of the stock market”.

* Obama specifically tells Republicans to not listen to Rush Limbaugh, thus driving up Limbaugh’s radio show ratings.

* Obama reverses 18-year policy on barring media from covering the return of dead soldiers, which used to be a private moment for families first seeing the arrival of their fallen loved ones.

* Obama proposes that Veterans wounded in war reimburse the VA for their medical care out of their own medical insurance.

* Obama laughs at the failing US automakers with thousands losing their jobs, in 60 Minutes interview.

* Obama demands and receives the resignation of GM CEO Rick Waggoner, while simultaneously saying “The United States government has no interest in running GM.”

* Obama usurps Congressional budgetary power by unilaterally declaring, with no legislative authority, that the US will now back all GM & Chrysler warranties.

* Obama breaks campaign promise to “immediately” begin removing troops from Iraq at “one or two brigades a month”.

* Obama breaks campaign promise to oppose earmarks, signs stimulus bill loaded with 9,000 pork-filled earmarks.

* Obama breaks pledge to consult Congress before carving out exceptions to the omnibus spending bill he signed into law – breaking his own signing-statement rules just two days after issuing them.

* Obama breaks campaign promise for new NAFTA labor and environmental regulations. He now says he won’t.

* Obama, breaking his campaign pledge for greater “transparency”, directs defense officials to sign a pledge stating they will not share 2010 budget data with anyone outside the federal government.

* Obama breaks pledge to give daughters a dog rescued from an animal shelter. Instead he buys one from a breeder, and names him “BO” – his initials.

* Obama breaks campaign pledge to end Bush-era warrant less wiretapping policies. He’s decided to continue them, now that he’s President.

* Hillary Clinton, Sec. State echoes Chief Of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s exhortation to “Never waste a good crisis”, hoping to use the economic crisis to implement otherwise unpopular global-warming policies forward.

* Janet Napolitano, Sec. of Homeland Security, never utters the word “terrorism” and instead replaces it with “man-caused disasters” in her first testimony before Congress, then actually defends it by saying she doesn’t want to use fear.

* Janet Napolitano, Sec. of Homeland Security, visiting Canada erroneously implies that the 9-11 terrorists entered American through Canada. She also falsely stated that no terrorists have ever entered through Mexico.

* Janet Napolitano, Sec. of Homeland Security, erroneously states that illegally crossing the border “is not a crime per se. It is civil.”

* Janet Napolitano, Sec. of Homeland Security, releases and then affirms a declassified document specifically warning that returning Iraqi veterans, gun owners, conservatives and those opposed to Obama’s policies constitute “right wing extremists” and the “potential emergence of terrorist groups” composed of them.

* Senate proposes a bill to allow the President to shut down all private Internet Service Providers that he alone deems necessary for national security.

* Against current CIA Director Leon Panetta’s advice and four former CIA Directors’ advice, Obama releases selected classified “torture memos” which now helps terrorists train themselves to withstand our interrogation techniques.

* Obama declares that “these interrogation techniques… do not make us safer”, is then contradicted by his own National Intelligence Director Adm. Dennis Blair who staunchly defended those techniques saying “High value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used”. Blair was later made to recant his comments to align them with Obama’s comments.

* Obama does nothing to oppose North Korea from launching missile over Japan.

* Obama sends overtures of openness to Communist Cuba’s leaders Raul and Fidel Castro. Later Obama is publicly rebuked by Fidel Castro for mistaking their willingness to talk as a sign they’re willing to address human rights abuses in Cuba.

* Obama provokes a possible trade-war with Mexico over less than 100 trucks.

* Obama warmly greets, smiles and shakes hands with rabidly anti-American Venezuelan Communist dictator Hugo Chavez, who only a month earlier had called Obama an “ignoramus”.

* Obama sits in silence through a vicious 50-minute anti-American tirade by former Nicaraguan Leftist dictator Daniel Ortega.

* Obama burns over 9,000 gallons of jet fuel on Earth Day to fly to Iowa – just to push for “New Era” in green energy.

* Obama vows to pressure Congress to pass an immigration-reform bill allowing a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens.

* Obama contradicts his own campaign rhetoric where he warned against using fear, but then immediately resorted to using economic fear to drive support for his pork-laden stimulus bill.

* Obama, pushing for his stimulus, erroneously states that Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens told him that passing the stimulus would allow him to hire more employees. Owens responds saying, “realistically no” and that he’d actually still have to lay off employees.

* Obama warns Congressional Democrats of retaliation for voting for against his stimulus bill saying to Rep. Peter DeFazio, “Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother.”

* Democrat leaders shut Republican Reps out of the House-Senate Conference negotiations on Obama’s Stimulus Bill, to the dismay of House Republican Conference Chair Mike Pence saying the final stimulus bill was crafted “without a single House Republican in the room”.

* Obama supported the $173 Billion AIG bailout specifically including $165 million Executive Bonus protections, then rails against AIG Executive Bonuses – that he knew all about ahead of time.

* $900 million of US taxpayer money to be given to Hamas supposedly to rebuild Gaza. That’s just $900 million more that Hamas can spend on it’s terrorist war with Israel.

* Obama states that government should spend money to meet the needs of people’s families: “We need to restore the American people’s confidence in their government — that it is on their side, spending their money wisely, to meet their families’ needs “.

* Treasury Dept. cannot to state what the $700 Billion original TARP money given to banks was used for, as nearly all of it is still publicly unaccounted for.

* Tim Geithner, Sec. Treasury, states the Obama Administration won’t let banks like Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan/Chase pay back TARP money given to them through the bailout, even if they are financially sound and have the ability to do so, instead choosing to keep control over them.

* Obama signs $3.6 Trillion budget, half a trillion more than last year, quadrupling the federal deficit to $1.8 trillion from $470 billion last year.

* Obama breaks campaign promise to cut Bush’s $470 billion deficit in half, and actually plans to maintain trillion dollar deficits for the next 10 years.

* Obama holds a press conference to proclaim that his Administration will cut 0.0027% out of his $3.6 TRILLION dollar budget, and his press secretary Robert Gibbs then defends it saying it’s “a lot of money”.

* Obama states he supports criminal charges against former Administration lawyers for simply giving advice regarding LEGAL CIA interrogation techniques.

* Obama repeatedly perpetuates the lie that “90%” of guns used by Mexican cartels come from the US, when it’s actually only about 17%, according to the Obama Administration’s own ATF testimony before Congress.

* Obama Administration officials threaten NYPD, FBI, NY Mayor and Secret Service to keep quiet about an Air Force One low flyby of Ground Zero area which terrified New Yorkers and angered NY officials.

GM to become government owned, after Obama LESS THAN 30 DAYS PRIOR says they government has no intention of running GM.

Discrimination against white males encouraged in Australia

In this article by Susie O’ Brien on December 8, 2008 in the Herald Sun, she claims that discrimination against dominant white males will soon be encouraged in a bid to boost the status of women, the disable and cultural and religious minorities.  Isn’t discrimination still discrimination no matter who it is enacted upon?  What would make this OK and white males discriminating against minorities bad?  Does payback make it acceptable?

The First Thanksgiving – “The Rest of the Story”

On the fourth Thursday of November, Americans will gather with their families and friends to celebrate a uniquely American holiday, a day of thanksgiving, a day devoted to remembering the blessings of God.

Much to the irritation of secular liberals and Left wing radicals who dominate popular culture, media and educational institutions, Thanksgiving Day is undeniably a religious holiday. From its historic origin at Plymouth Colony to President Lincoln’s official declaration of “… the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens,” there is no denying that Thanksgiving is a government established and sanctioned religious holiday.

But there is more to the story.

First of all, the Pilgrims were not the first to declare a day of thanksgiving in America. In 1619, a year before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth, a group of English colonists set aside a day to give thanks for their safe voyage and arrival in Virginia. As was typical religious custom of that time, there was no feast on that day of thanksgiving. The festival of eating and drinking which the Pilgrims celebrated with their Indian neighbors occurred in 1621 and was a substantial departure from the usual custom of fasting and praying on days of thanksgiving.

It is generally known that the Pilgrims suffered terribly through their first winter in America with about half of their members dying from sickness, starvation or exposure. Even though Squanto and other friendly Indians taught the Pilgrims how to grow corn and helped them with hunting, trapping and fishing, the harvest of their crops had yielded barely enough to support the colony. In the fall of 1621, although things were still very tough, they were thankful for what they had and declared a three-day feast which they shared with their Indian friends who contributed deer and wild fowl.

That is about the extent of what most people know about that first Pilgrim Thanksgiving. The following year, the Pilgrims again failed to produce enough food to adequately sustain them. People generally don’t realize the reason the productivity was so low was due to the practice of socialism.

William Bradford, the first governor of Plymouth Colony, recorded that the colonists struggled because they refused to work in the fields. After that first winter, Bradford assigned a plot of land to each of the surviving families and “… all profits & benefits that are got by trade, working, fishing, or any other means” which they produced were to be deposited into a common storehouse and that “all such persons as are of this colony, are to have their meat, drink, apparel, and all provisions out of the common stock.” This meant that each member of the community was entitled to take what they needed regardless of how much or how little they contributed.

As Governor Bradford recorded in his journal, this effort to spread the wealth around the Pilgrim community “… was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort.” In other words, there was no incentive for people to work any harder than necessary.

After the dismal harvest of 1622, Governor Bradford recorded in his journal that “… they began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop.” As a result, Bradford and the Plymouth elders scrapped socialism and adopted a free market plan that allowed the colonists to own their land and the means of production and to keep what they produced to feed themselves or for trading. The harvest of 1623 proved that such market incentives work. Bradford wrote, “This had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any other means the Governor or any other could use ….”

Bradford acknowledged “… instead of famine now God gave them plenty and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many.” Socialism in Plymouth Colony was a complete and tragic failure. After the colony implemented a free market system, Bradford wrote that from that point “… any general want or famine hath not been amongst them since to this day.”  In fact, the harvest of 1624 was so plentiful that colonists were able to start exporting corn to England.

As you gather with family and friends this national day of Thanksgiving to give thanks to Almighty God for His blessings on America, you should also give thanks for Governor Bradford and the Pilgrim settlers of Plymouth Colony. They established the spiritual foundations for our nation and, after a miserable failure with a socialist system, they wisely laid the free market foundations which ensured our prosperity as well.

And that, as Paul Harvey would say, is “the rest of the story.”
